Emerson is the Chief Evangelist of Bespoken. Emerson has spent most of his career working in the QA space, including the Army Research Lab, Borland, and Applause. Emerson is passionate about the impact that effective testing can have on products and users. He loves working for Bespoken because it makes voice development so much faster, easier, and more fun – and the llama is pretty cool too! Outside of Bespoken, Emerson loves adventure cycling, cooking, and volunteering with the Scouts BSA. In this week’s episode of The Artificial Podcast, Nick chats with Emerson Sklar of Bespoken.io about the important role that QA and testing play in developing voice applications for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Emerson shares his story and how he went from working on projects for the U.S Army to becoming the Chief Evangelist of Bespoken working in voice technology. Emerson and Nick talk about some of the biggest challenges that voice app designers and developers face, and how an automated testing platform like Bespoken can ease a lot of pain and frustration. Emerson also talks about he thinks there is still a lot of opportunity with Interactive Voice Response (IVR) and improving existing technologies through QA and testing.
